Colonial Animal Hospital is a full service hospital limited to dogs and cats. Our practice philosophy is preventative health medicine. An annual examination is recommended for all patients. With the annual exam other preventative health measures are discussed based on the patient's needs.
Fees
We feel that the fees charged are a reflection of the quality of the facility and the standards of medical care maintained. Unlike the human hospital, our animal hospital's facilities are provided for your pet through private enterprise and represent a substantial investment by the veterinarians on our staff. Payment is expected in full when services are rendered and may be made with cash, check, Visa, MasterCard and Discover. We do require a deposit of at least 50% when an animal is hospitalized.

Vaccinations Colonial Animal Hospital believes in lifestyle vaccinating. Vaccines are divided into core vaccines and optional vaccines. Core vaccines in dogs are Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo, Parainfluenza, Bordetella and Rabies. Optional vaccines include Lyme, Corona and Leptospirosis. Core vaccines in cats are Distemper, Rhinotracheitis, Calici virus and Rabies. The optional vaccine for cats is Feline Leukemia. Optional vaccines are decided based on the pet's lifestyle. |

Dental Care During the annual exam the patient's dental health is evaluated. We provide full service dentistries at Colonial Animal Hospital. The teeth are hand scaled, followed by an ultrasonic scaling, polishing and a fluoride application. Home care for the teeth is demonstrated at discharge. |

Laboratory Testing We can perform most necessary blood work in the hospital. This yields a fast turnaround for lab results and prompt treatment for your pet. Annual blood screening is recommended for all animals over 8 years of age. This helps in the early diagnosis of disease processes and planning the appropriate long term management. All animals have a blood screening before an anesthetic procedure. Other laboratory tests are sent out to a nationally recognized veterinary lab. |

Surgery Colonial provides most routine surgical procedures for its patients. We use the safest anesthetic protocols available and customize them the patient's needs. Patient's vital signs are monitored by vet assistants. A pulse oximeter is used to measure heart rate and oxygen levels. Pain management protocols are incorporated into all surgical procedures. Surgical procedures are scheduled Monday through Fridays. |
